Washington Apple Pi has invited the University of Maryland's chief futurist (and professor) Allison Druin to talk about the future of computing, teaching, learning, human-computer interaction, and many other topics that can't possibly fit in the available time. Best to brush up before the meeting.
While many futurists attempt to predict or forecast the future, Druin specializes in preparing us for that future, working with how children learn and how technology helps (or hinders) such learning, and how technology helps (or hinders) our ability to perform common and uncommon tasks. She is also a regular technology correspondent on the WAMU 88.5 Kojo Nnamdi radio program as the “Computer Gal."
Once again, we will attempt to stream it over the Internet: http://www.ustream.tv/channel/wap-general-meeting.
