Join Washington Apple Pi in welcoming an Apple representative to give us an update on all things Apple (that we know about as of the meeting date). The Apple representative will not talk about whatever it is that Apple may announce in October, though there may be a reference or two to macOS 12 Monterey as a "future" release.
Without in any way presupposing what the Apple representative will discuss, this photo should grab leave you gasping: while most media attention will be on the just-announced iPhone 13 lineup, this parade of iPads is amazing. At the big end is the gigantic but thin iPad Pro, followed by the gigantic but smaller iPad Air, followed by the very inexpensive just-released iPad, followed by the giant killer, the just-released iPad mini. The newest mini is in many respects the second most powerful iPad out there, and yet it is the size and weight of a paperback book.
Apple's 2021 iPad lineup, from a gigantic but surprisingly small iPad Pro to an iPad mini that is a giant machine in a small case.
Before our guest tells us why we should not be strapping an iPhone to a motorbike to record video, the meeting will start with our famed Question and Answer session where we engage in crowdsourcing clever answers to impossible questions, such as "Should I worry about foreign governments hacking my iPhone to spy on my cats? Even if I don't own an iPhone?" and "Why won't my iMac allow me to flip my screen vertically?" or "Should I use the Moderna or the Pfizer vaccine to combat viruses on my MacBook?" or "Should someone tell the webmaster this paragraph is just one run-on sentence?"
The Zoom meeting invitation will be posted on the Pi's conferencing system, the TCS, and sent out to members via Email. Please check your Zoom profile online to be sure it contains your full name, because for security reasons, we can't let anyone in without their full name.
Pro tip: if you use the Zoom app (instead of a web browser), check in advance that you have version 5.7.6 or better.
We'll start with a Q&A, so please send us any questions for us to queue up for the panel.
